Aurora Public Safety Training Center

Client: City of Aurora, Colorado

About: The Aurora Public Safety Training Center was a new construction project designed to train area police and firefighters. The site contained driving courses, burn buildings, and a primary administrative building.

Brief: Design a history wall in the main corridor of the space that features two and three-dimensional objects.

We collaborated with the Aurora history museum, police, and fire departments to gain an understanding of their massive physical and digital inventory. Along the way, we designed custom mounts for all of the three-dimensional objects.

The original history wall scope grew to feature a police and fire graphic at the entry/waiting area and second floor graphics. They wanted to communicate how they work together to provide the best public safety to the community.

The second floor featured a memorial wall where they honored fallen officers and firefighters. The graphic features the honor guard and a row of plaques.

A training wall was designed to feature police, fire, and combined training. The oaths of each were designed into background as a reminder of their responsibility as officers and firefighters.
